The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston.  Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).



Arkema is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support the Beaumont, Texas facility.   In this role, the Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining manufacturing equipment at required optimum levels.  This will consist of replacing parts, repairing equipment, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.  The incumbent would work  in partnership with other departments to safely maximize reliability of the equipment and minimize production time.


Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Works as a team directly with the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and Planners, Maintenance Superintendent, Maintenance Engineering and I/E Technicians and Storekeepers.
  • Works in partnership with other departments such as Production Operators, Safety, Environmental, Engineering, Inspection, Purchasing, Quality and Shipping.
  • Properly charging of hours to work orders and repairing all plant equipment to the best of their ability. 
  • Perform PM work on plant equipment to insure plant reliability.
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of activities and procedures.    
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot and Repair of plant equipment.  (i.e. Compressors & Pumps).
  • Pipe fabrication and replacement.
  • Safety and Equipment Inspections.
  • Perform routine maintenance duties and support the maintenance improvement efforts at the Beaumont Plant.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and ability to learn and maintain computer skills to support Arkema's programs.


The following are the job requirements:


  • Must have high school education.  Associates degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field is preferred.
  • 3 plus years experience working with rotating and reciprocating industrial equipment desired.  NCCER Certified Welder or similar certification is desired.
  • Must have a working knowledge of various welding codes, specifications, techniques and methods.  
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to solve basic mathematical problems, reading comprehension, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong team player with an ability to work closely with all functional teams within the plant.
  • Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving and excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to comply with all safety and environmental standards.
  • Ability to climb, to work at heights and to work within confined spaces.
