The Beaumont Plant is located in Southeast Texas about 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and is about one hour drive east of Houston.  Our facility is responsible for the production of methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and methylmercaptoproprionaldehyde (MMP).

 

Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Risk Based Inspection (RBI) and Mechanical Integrity Department Engineering Team Leader to support our Beaumont facility.  This position reports to the Reliability Engineering and Projects Manager.  This position manages the Mechanical Integrity team, program and process for the Beaumont Plant and provide expertise at all the Thiochemical plants as needed. Develop and implement the RBI strategy at Beaumont Plant and then be a key resource for the Arkema North America Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CFME) for North America wide assistance as needed. Manages outside contractors to ensure completing inspection testing on required frequencies and conducts inspections of plant piping and vessels for the determination of corrosion rate and remaining life/ half-life calculations. Determines, improves continuously inspection frequencies and schedules.  Maintains, updates and continuously improves the entire plant mechanical inspection system by updating isometric drawings, revised piping, piping replacements, new equipment, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Beaumont Plant RBI program.
  • Ensure that inspector resources have the necessary skills and experience to maintain a risk based inspection process.
  • Equipment and Piping Reliability - Developing the SAP Based Reliability program for fixed equipment and piping to become the “A” model for other plants in Performance Materials and Technologies to emulate.
  • Responsible for establishing an acceptable level of risk for MI across the plant.
  • Leader of mechanical integrity codes, standards and inspection techniques at the Beaumont Site.
  • Responsible for developing procedures to define inspection strategies based on evaluated or expected risk.
  • Evaluating failure areas to propose material of construction and other design changes to be used in the capital plan.
  • Properly manage the records associated with vessel, piping and relief valve inspections.
  • Utilizing proper Arkema documentation systems as the location for all records in the MI program.
  • Ensuring safe procedures and processes followed by all team members.
  • Provide input into the plant RPE and CAPEX budgets to ensure that scheduled inspections are budgeted.
  • Responsible for ensuring that equipment falling below the acceptable level of risk is mitigated in a timely fashion.

 

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in fixed equipment inspection in a Chemical or Petrochemical Manufacturing environment.
  • BS Degree in Engineering Discipline- Preferably Mechanical
  • API 510, 570, or 653 inspector certification and documneted risk based inspection training or API 580 certification preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated self starter.
  • Strong interpersonal , technical and leadership skills are required.
  • Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and self-reliance.
  • Strong leadership and work ethic.
