Job Title:          Laboratory Technician

 

Situation in organization

 

This position reports to the Quality Control Supervisor. There are no direct reports to this position.

 

Job dimensions

 

This position is responsible for performing laboratory analyses and generating reports.

 

 

Key Activities and responsibilities

 

Primary laboratory responsibilities (70%)

Perform routine lab analyses

Maintain routine documentation including worksheet/log entries, sample documentation, computer entries, calibration records, procedures, etc.

Operate and maintain test equipment including calibrations of test equipment

Collect special samples

Perform quality control tests for production samples, raw materials, and shipments

Prepare analytical reagents and standards

Other duties as assigned (30%)

Maintain inventory of lab supplies and glassware

Contact and work with lab vendors, instrumentation technicians, and plant personnel

Assist with various plant projects as needed

Perform area housekeeping

Fulfill product sample requests from external and internal customers

Serve as a back-up to the SBR technician

Context and environment

 

Able to work safely with hazardous chemicals

Able to stand or sit for long periods in a laboratory environment

Support the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements

Participate in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)

Support and promote the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

 

Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience

 

High school diploma or GED required

Minimum one year experience in an analytical chemistry lab preferred

Knowledge of Chromeleon software and Agilent or ThermoFischer GC’s preferred

Proficient in MS Office

LIMS and SAP preferred

 

 

Demonstrated Competencies

Good oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting

Good time management skills
