Provide process engineering support for the day-to-day operation of the Blooming Prairie plant.  Evaluates and implements technical changes to systems, procedures and equipment to improve the safety, cost, quality and reliability of epoxides production.



HSEQ: Ensure that all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated and corrective actions implemented. Ensure that all department members follow required HESQ training. Demonstrate commitment to all loss control matters through high visibility and actions.


  • Oversees efficient performance of assigned production processes; provides daily troubleshooting support.
  • Ensures optimal production and process enhancements of assigned areas, including environmental systems.
  • Conducts appropriate root-cause analysis and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
  • Applies principles or mass, flow, reactions, heat transfer, etc. to process and equipment design, at conceptual and detail design.
  • Assesses production data to track and improve yield, variable cost (energy and key raw material usage), and Operational Asset Utilization (OAU).
  • Interpretation of process conditions using tools such as PI / Batch.
  • Evaluates technical data, procedures, and policies/regulations and develops appropriate/cost effective solutions.
  • Manages assigned capital projects, projects budgets and project records; develops early stage project evaluation including layout, cost estimates, engineering feasibility and bid packages.
  • Leads project commissioning and start up activities for process changes and new technology.
  • Prepares and executes Management of Change documentation.
  • Participates in Process Hazard Analysis and Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews for assigned projects/processes.
  • Leads and interacts with internal/external technical resources as needed to complete projects.
  • Serves as a resource for HES studies, initiatives and incident investigations.
  • Prepares technical, business reports and presentations.
  • Prepares and modifies process documents; prepares training materials for operators on process upgrades, etc.
  • Mentors Co-op Engineers as appropriate and participates in their recruiting process.
  • Supports BBS process by completing observations.
  • Supports Loss Control policy, AIMS and OHSAS 18001 management systems.

  • Complies with all external regulatory requirements, industry best practices and internal policies.
  • Available to support continuous plant operations as needed.
  • Ability to wear personnel protective equipment such as respirators.
qualifications / experience required
  • BS in Chemical engineering and 2-5 years manufacturing experience or M.S. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Project management skills - Stage Gate Project Development process.
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Process Hazard Analysis using LOPA Technique.
  • Lean Six Sigma Operational Excellence implementation.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
