The Lab Chemist I, reporting to the Quality Supervisor, conducts all testing required to ensure that raw materials received and finished prodcuts produced are in compliance with acceptable specifications and notify the Supervisor/ISO Coordinator of any issues.  Activities may include but are not limited to:

 

Laboratory Operations (90%)

  1. Approve raw materials and input results into LIMS, when necessary.
  2. Independently perform analytical testing on finished goods and input results into LIMS.
  3. Data entry into SAP, when necessary.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on lab instrumentation.
  5. Re-approve expired finished goods materials.
  6. Validate calibration status of test methods by running SQC samples.
  7. Validate the weekly calibration status of analytical instrumentation.
  8. Validate monthly calibration status of analytical instrumentation.
  9. Preparation of lab solutions and standards.
  10. Work with production operators, as needed to troubleshoot lab problems.
  11. Monitor and order laboratory consumables.  

 

Operational Excellence and HES Activities (10%)

  1. Participate in plant Behavior Based Safety program.
  2. Assist Quality Supervisor/ISO Coordinator with special projects and quality investigations.
  3. Participate in site’s 3S program

 

The position is primarily performed in the laboratory of a chemical manufacturing plant with chemical, physical, ergonomic and electrical hazards.  Work requires use of protective clothing/equipment and requires compliance with all regulatory, corporate and  site HES requirements.

 

The successful candidate will:

  1. Hold a BS in chemistry of equivalent field of study
  2. Have laboratory experience; minimum of one year analytical laboratory experience preferred.
  3. Be proficient in Microsoft Software; lab software a plus.
  4. Occasionally lift 35 pounds
  5. Work well in gorups as well as independently.
  6. Stand for extended periods of time
  7. Have a good attitude and willing to learn.
