Responsible for the efficient operation of chemical manufacturing processes following established safety, environmental and operating procedures.

  • Follows operating disciplines, procedures, and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, equipment and control systems.
  • Ensures operation activities and process performance are aligned with plant/business goals.
  • Uses process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline.
  • Supports the packing of organic peroxides in appropriate containers as required
  • Completes all daily reports and maintains log entries to verify that all appropriate information is documented.
  • Prepares equipment for normal maintenance, shutdown/startups and returning the equipment to service, consisting of clean up, lockout/tagout, blinding and pressure checking of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots abnormal operating conditions affecting process equipment; coordinates troubleshooting activities with maintenance when needed
  • Assists the Incident Commander for all process related emergencies by isolating equipment, containing releases, communicating with outside assistance, etc.
  • Performs work needed to make minor repairs (i.e. small leaks, replace valves, steam traps)
  • Assists with procedure writing/verification and other operating discipline activities.
  • Provides input when needed during audits and investigations of unusual/undesirable events
  • Participates on the Site Emergency Response Team and in shift safety discussions
  • Ensures appropriate housekeeping in units.
  • Supports BBS process by performing observations 
  • Supports Loss Control policy, AIMS, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems.
  • Will work a 12 hour rotating shift schedule; on call duties as required

Will climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs and wear PPE including SCBA respirator

 

Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • HS Diploma; AAS or Certified Operator certificate preferred
  • 3+ years of exp.as a process operator in chemical manufacturing
  • Experience with automated equipment/DCS and forklifts preferred.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Intermediate computer skills; basic math understanding
