Responsible for ensuring safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operations of the MPU, CPU, and waste water treatment units and developing a culture of continuous improvement.  Reports directly to the Operations Manager. Direct reports include 6-10 hourly production employees

 

  • Supports full compliance of all Safety related regulatory requirements including: OSHA, PSM, RMP, TCEQ/EPA and Company Policies and programs and ensures all safety policies / practices are followed.
  • Ensures units are operated in full environmental compliance and that proper records are maintained.
  • Ensure timely implementation of incident investigations and recommended action items (Impact).
  • Actively involved in the behavioral safety process through leadership, practice and encouragement of direct reports.
  • Ensures employees attend all required Safety meetings and remain up to date on all training requirements
  • Facilitates operations training and qualification process
  • Directs supervision of production employees; motivates workforce for high productivity.
  • Responsible for efficient use of manpower and scheduling of OT as needed to minimize costs
  • Maximizes operational efficiency by ensuring that units run in optimal operating conditions to maximize product yields
  • Minimizes unit downtime by defining priorities with maintenance; help reduce costs by ensuring proper coordination between maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Identifies reasons for OAU losses and develop solutions for improving plant reliability.
  • Leads weekly shift tool box meetings
  • Acts as PEO coordinator during plant emergencies
  • Supports Loss Control policy, AIMS, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems.

 

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in chemical manufacturing or 10 years exp as chemical operator
  • Demonstrated ability to understand /troubleshoot plant processes and batch operations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Intermediate skills in MS office;  working knowledge of SAP preferred
