Based at Arkema's Corporate Headquarters and R&D Center in King of Prussia, PA, the Senior Manager, Industrial Safety - Audit & Compliance is responsible for leading the compliance, audit, training and business support systems for Arkema in the Americas.  He/she will provide guidance, assistance, and technical support to all of our plants and sites in North America to help maintain compliance and achieve their industrial safety objectives in a cost effective manner.  This position will directly manage a Corporate staff of 2 HES professionals.


Specific job activities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and implement corporate safety policies, procedures, business processes and tools to not only ensure Arkema Inc.’s consistent compliance with federal, state, and local safety requirements, but also to develop Arkema Inc. into a leader in industrial safety matters.
  • Lead the industrial & process safety auditing programs.
  • Develop, maintain, and motivate an effective, value added industrial safety audit, training and business process system team, including: defined goals and objectives annually; documented performance evaluations; succession planning; and provisions for training/development activities where appropriate.
  • Lead development, implementation and maintenance of a corporate-wide industrial/occupational safety and process safety training program.
  • Provide leadership on other key Industrial Safety initiatives and projects as directed by senior management. Provide leadership on key HES initiatives by directing teams, soliciting facility input and participation, maximizing organizational buy-in through the use of effective persuasion, and maintaining momentum. Primary responsibility for organizational leadership, scope definition, strategy development and project execution for industrial safety initiatives.
  • Lead, coordinate and/or participate in Industrial Safety support for CAPEX projects from initial design through start-up.


Business travel is expected to be 60% of the time (50% domestic travel and 10% rest-of-world).



This is a senior technical management position that requires strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and technical skills.  An appreciation for the legal environment and sensitivities associated with working in a highly regulated area is also needed.


  • B.S. Degree in relevant field of study (e.g. engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, occupational health & safety) and 15 years minimum industrial experience or MS degree in relevant field of study and 10 years minimum industrial experience.  A minimum of 10 years plant experience is required. CSP and/or CIH certification preferred.
  • Also required is a detailed knowledge of Arkema manufacturing operations and relevant federal and state laws and regulations such as OSHA, PSM, and EPA RMP.  The incumbent must have strong interpersonal, as well as written and oral communication skills, and must be capable of interacting with diverse groups at all technical levels such as regulatory agencies, other industry representatives, customers, technical consultants, contractors, engineers, attorneys, etc.  He/she must be self-directed, with a strong background in problem solving and development of creative cost-effective solutions.  This position requires the job holder to be able to accomplish assignments, goals, objectives and projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision or direction.
