The Global Manufacturing Manager, reporting to the Global Manufacturing Director, directs and oversees the projects and process improvements for the global operation.  The incumbent assists in all aspects of Global Manufacturing and Operational Excellence handling major projects and acting as manufacturing manager for the BU. 


The Global Manufacturing Manager works with all levels of business unit and plant staff to lead projects and programs and to provide major project and technical oversight, which will have a positive impact on the overall performance of the Business Unit. The jobholder coordinates the implementation of projects in Asia, Europe and the Americas and will have significant direct interaction with Group President, General Managers, Manufacturing Directors, Business and Plant Managers. 




Project & Construction Management (50%)

  • Handles multiple projects concurrently
    • Bombax in Asia 20 or above million euros
    • VSP expansion 20 or above million euroGlobal Oligomer Urethane Expansion 20 or above million euro several small projects 1-2million
  • Strong involvement and influence in project development and project organization
  • Heavy strategic planning component in position
  • Predicts and avoids problems before they impact project performance
  • Sets project goals and objectives
  • Establishes appropriate action/implementation plans
  • Selects, directs, coordinates and manages vendors and subcontractors
  • Reviews and approves designs, estimates and plans
  • Manages project resources:  capital, time, manpower Participate and coordinate the assessment and master planning for the engagement
  • Ensures ASAP process is followed for the project


Process, Technical Support and Manufacturing Management (20%)

  • Participate in improvement and tracking of manufacturing six Pillars for Sartomer
  • Solve manufacturing problems quickly and systematically


Lead and Coach Engineering Team (10%)

  • Assesses manufacturing challenges & coach team to find efficient solutions
  • Asses cost improvement ideas and implement innovative solutions for our processes and ongoing production         


Strategic Planning & Budgeting (15%)

  • Creates departmental strategic plans and tactics aligned with corporate goals,
  • Manages a multi-million dollar annual departmental capital budget         
  • Manages a 20 million dollar capex budget      


Global Reporting (5%)

  • Assembles operational metrics across the BU
  • Analyzes to suggest improvement and/or share best practices


This position will require approximately 60% travel with half or more outside the US. 



  • Degree in engineering and 7+ years industrial experience – Master’s degree is a plus
  • Extensive experience in chemical/process/project engineering
  • Success as project manager and process improvement leader (Demonstrated superior major project management skills).
  • Experience with stage gate approval processes
  • Strong experience working with field level associates, and construction contractors
  • Good oral and written communication skills – multilingual a plus including Chinese and French
