Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Marketing Manager to support our 3D business in our Sartomer Americas business located in Exton, PA.

The Market Manager works under the direction of the Global Business Director – 3D Printing.  The position routinely interfaces directly with external customers and internal team (R&D, Technical Service, Sales, Business Management, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Manufacturing functions), all at the regional and global levels to execute the business strategy.


Key Activities and responsibilities:


Market Strategy & Development: (40%):

  1. Develop and execute a business plan to support the aggressive annual growth and profit objectives of the 3D Printing market segment.  Primary contributor to the details of the business plan at the customer level for each platform (vat polymerization, multi-jet printing and binder jetting).
  2. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with ability to make progress with ambiguous and incomplete information. Work with technical service and sales manager to develop a deep understanding of customers (new leads, existing customers and strategic partners) to assess their value-proposition, and how Sartomer can engage/partner to propose creative partnership models for sustainable business growth.
  3. Determine the overall strategy to move into or strengthen a new market.  This may include an approach to only work with select partners, or an open approach to work with an unlimited base of customers as well as potential for JVs, partnerships and sharing government funding opportunities.
  4. Leverage application knowledge to understand how material technologies are used in 3D Printing formulations and subsequent end-application.  Build understanding of the use of radiation-curable 3D printing processes and materials across industry segments (automotive, aerospace, medical, sports and retail). Identify and engage potential partners within or across industries leveraging Sartomer value-proposition and business strategy. 
  5. Identify and bridge innovative approaches from diverse fields and industries; evaluates technical and economic feasibility to develop game-changing business strategies.  Work with R&D to identify opportunities for establishing intellectual property positions and actively pursue patent filings. Establish forward looking / sustainable competitive advantage.
  6. Collaborates across organizational boundaries, e.g. other Arkema BUs, academic groups and national labs, to further group’s initiatives.


Market Management: (30%)

  1. Develop deep market understanding through market reports, industry research, conference/trade show participation, customer engagements to develop competitive intelligence and contribute to overall business strategy centered on technology differentiation, value-pricing, new service models and unique customer partnerships.  Primary source and driver of Americas market information leading to market specific strategy development.  Collaborate with management to set program direction and timeline. 
  2. Promote Sartomer technologies through scientific presentations, publications, participation at tradeshows or conferences and/or customer visits. Document case studies and conferences/trade show learnings  to educate broader team that will help define or promote our already defined strategies
  3. Collaborate across organizational boundaries, e.g. Technical (Platform and Pilot), Supply-Chain, HES, Manufacturing and Commercial teams to execute on the business plan.  Works with leadership to break down barriers and create novel solutions at cross-functional level.  Effectively communicates findings to management and stakeholders.
  4. Effective team leadership and interpersonal skills to lead multiple projects including idea conception, project execution and implementation.  Advocate for project resources, as needed. Presents findings, recommendations and cost benefit analysis to management.
  5. Take upon multiple responsibilities including, a component of technical service, financial understanding of sales price vs. product cost, manufacturing and supply chain implications of new product introduction, advertising and communication, and the ability to present technical information to key customers.  Provide or arrange technical service to customers and end users as needed related to new product development.
  6. Investigate and choose (or maintain) the best partners to align with our development strategies. With the partners, understand the value relationship of our offering vs. other options that we intend to replace.  Sartomer needs to understand the value to the customer, and the customer’s value offering to the end users in order to properly value our product to the industry supply chain.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers high, wide and deep.  Formulate, maintain and implement key account plans to include milestones and strategies


Manage Profitability: (30%)

  1. Deliver business results in conjunction with Arkema guidelines
  2. Work with Global Business Director and other Market Managers to manage existing sales and drive growth of new business with new/existing products and new/existing customers. 
  3. Forecast annual sales of existing products and new development products as it relates to success at developing customers to help create annual budget.  Maintain twelve (12) month rolling forecast for all product sales. Update market segment forecast with high degree of accuracy every month.
  4. Develop pricing/volume strategy and execute approved strategy with guidance from Market Development Director.  Develop, maintain and update pricing at customers for 3D printing Market Segment
  5. Negotiate key joint development/supply agreements with support from leadership team.
  6. Liaise with sales and marketing in other regions on issues relating to global customers


Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years Marketing, Field Sales and/or Technical Development in Polymers
  • 5+ years working in chemical industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in business support and product management roles with exposure to Engineering, Operations, Procurement, R&D and sales with a general understanding of the industry, market conditions and competition.
  • Bachelors in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Engineering or related field with strong process focus.
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science or related field with strong process focus is desired.
  • MBA desirable
  • Experience in 3D Printing industry is a plus
  • Experienced professional level understanding, interpretation, and application of theory, concepts, and knowledge in specialized areas; e.g. chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science, or other specialized field.
  • Prior demonstrated success in ability to innovate and improve upon existing business practices.
  • Six sigma certification is a plus.
