The Production Engineer provides daily engineering support to ensure optimal production and process improvements. Also provides technical support for upcoming product initiatives and capital improvements.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors daily production and packaging activities and product quality and makes adjustments as needed. Updates/tracks operational asset utilization (OAU) and other KPIs and drives process and quality improvements based on the data. (30%)
  • Ensures all onsite activities follow MOC, PHA and safe work permitting practices. Leads or participates in PHAs and PSSRs. Actively participates on the Safety Committee. (15%)
  • Ensures continuous evaluation and implementation of opportunities for improvement (e.g., safety/ergonomic   risks, process efficiency, cost reduction, DCS system modifications). Minimizes process downtime by working with operators to create work notifications and working with maintenance to prioritize jobs. (15%)
  • Trains operators on new process equipment or changes to existing equipment, both by updating written work instructions and through face-to-face communication. (10%)
  • Works with Production Support Specialist to coordinate production/packaging schedules with planned and unanticipated maintenance activities. (10%)
  • Serves as Arkema/Solenis liaison to drive timely completion of maintenance jobs, mechanical integrity reviews and improvement projects to reduce repetitive failures. (10%)
  • Establishes short and long term production plans with Site Manager and Marketing team. Reviews physical inventory on a monthly basis to ensure proper accounting of raw materials, intermediates and finished goods. (10%)
  • Works with team to determine root causes of safety, process and quality incidents and drives resolution of each (including MOCs, Work Notifications, Customer Complaints, etc.)
  • Works with Process Engineer to help drive approval/implementation of projects supporting HES, production and packaging.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • 5-8 years manufacturing experience with at least 2 years at a PSM-covered facility
  • DCS programming and mechanical integrity experience preferred
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks quickly based on safety, quality and production needs
