SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION: Reports to the Logistics Superintendent.

 

JOB DIMENSIONS: Works with Corporate BU to set loading plan for the month.  Organizes and plans all inbound and outbound shipments.  Creates appropriate requisitions for purchases and services, validates and processes all invoices.  Maintains knowledge of the Logistics Superintendent’s role and serves as primary backup.  Responsible for complying with all AIMS HESQ policies & practices including ISO-9001, OHSAS-18001 and RCMS.  This includes compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. For example, OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, etc.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Logistics Rail Management - 40%

  • Maintains on-site and off-site railcar storage and inventory ensuring inventory is accurate and matches SAP.
  • Communicates all railcar moves in and out of plant utilizing the Port Terminal Railroad Association website and Sasol’s Rail Yard Inventory Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Informs Rail Carriers/Owners of any inspection or repairs that may be needed and schedules them accordingly.

Raw Material Planning - 25%

  • Maintains Raw Material Railcar/Truck Order tracking system in Excel.
  • Coordinates railcar tracking with QTS for Houston Rail fleet and all inbound Raw Material cars.
  • Processes all Raw Material receipts and Invoices ensuring SAP accuracy.

Logistics Planning - 15%

  • Defines Monthly Loading schedule to ensure efficiency of the Logistics team and to limit overtime requirements.
  • Organizes inbound/outbound equipment weekly to optimize logistics flow for all orders processed on site.
  • Coordinates with Corporate logistics and carriers on special equipment needed for international orders.
  • Schedules pickup and maintains paperwork for all Product streams shipping from the Houston facility.
  • Ensures accuracy of Production orders.
  • Ensures accuracy of SAP inventories.
  • Maintains and files all shipping records ensuring all records are retained as required by law.
  • Communicates all issues/problems with orders to Corporate Customer Service in a timely manner.

Customer Service Internal/External - 10%

  • Works closely with the Logistics Superintendent, Logistic Planner, Corporate Supply Chain, Marketing, Customer service personnel, Material Handlers, Production personnel, and Accounting personnel to ensure the customer receives their orders in a safe and timely manner.
  • Provides assistance to Lab with maintaining the batch number system for packaged goods.
  • Updates and maintains procedures in SharePoint for the Logistics department.
  • Fills in for Logistics Planner in their absence.

Backup Support for Logistics Superintendent - 10%

  • Participate in the Raw Material Planning Process.
  • Participate in the S&OP meetings.
  • Participate in Month-end Close.
  • Schedule and distribute Daily task to Material Handlers.
  • Enter Incidents into the Impact tracking system.
  • Enter Work Notifications into SAP.

 

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • This position is located at the Houston plant and works in a fast –paced environment.
  • Makes decisions pertaining to logistics and invoice issues.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/WORK EXPERIENCE:

  •  
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Logistics, or equivalent to 1-3 years of experience in Supply Chain/Logistics activities.
  • Strong computer skills, including Outlook, SAP and MS Office Suite.
  • Prior experience with transportation modes, equipment rates, routes, carrier contracts, and conditions is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP transportation planning processes, such as sales orders, deliveries, and shipments, is essential.
  • The ability to demonstrate professionalism and integrity in order to develop productive relationships with both internal and external customers is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Good problem-solving skills and decision making abilities are essential, as is the ability to appropriately manage priorities in a busy, multi-task environment.

 

DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES:

 

This position can approve invoice payments.  Make decisions on daily work schedules and set priorities.  Make decision on raw material scheduling and set delivery dates.  Make decisions on overtime to ensure on-time shipments.  Maintains shipping papers for Arkema and Transportation Agencies as required.  And ensures accuracy of SAP inventory.
