Based at Arkema's Corporate Offices and R&D Center in King of Prussia, PA, the Senior Research Scientist provides technical and safety leadership in the area of process chemistry to support the Organic Peroxides manufacturing business and plants. 

 

Specific job activities include (but are not limited to):

  • Fully engage and participate in Arkema departmental and site wide safety programs and ensures safe laboratory operation, supporting a culture of continuous safety improvement.
  • Work closely with internal customers, project teams and lab colleagues to solve technical problems.
  • Develop functional solutions to complex manufacturing processes utilizing laboratory and pilot facilities.

  • Scale-up and install processes in manufacturing plants in collaboration with engineering and plant personnel. 

  • Analyze complex analytical issues in collaboration with QC personnel and develop the necessary experimental programs to provide solutions.  

  • Collaborate with process engineers and manufacturing plant engineers to optimize industrial processes.  

  • Contribute to the innovation culture at Arkema by exhibiting curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and collaboration with others to constantly improve our methods and products.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of industrial experience as process chemist.
  • Background in synthetic chemistry (preferably organic) and industrial process development.
  • Understanding of chemical engineering principles, process development and optimization.
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry and understanding of plant operations.
  • Chemical systems modeling experience utilizing complex datasets a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Self-starting ability with exceptional time and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated multitasking capabilities.
