Based at Arkema's Corporate Offices and R&D Center in King of Prussia, PA, the Polymer Engineer supports key development projects and provides high quality technical service to Arkema Fluoropolymers customers.  Key activities include (but are not limited to):

 

Technical Service and Development Support

Support customer technical service via telephone and, when appropriate, conduct customer trials.  Set up equipment, conduct and troubleshoot polymer processing trials using: injection molding, pipe, tube and film extrusion, etc. to produce samples, develop new processes and train customers.  Conduct testing, complete data analysis and prepare report/presentations for technical service activities.  Respond to Arkema sales and development engineers and customer inquiry in a timely and professional manner.

 

Product Development

Develop new testing capability or equipment capability as needed to support new product and application development.  Conduct testing, complete data analysis and prepare reports/presentations to support new developments for key projects, or programs. Coodinate with analytical sciences team to complete testing and summarize results.

 

Process Expertise and Safety

Develop new melt processing technical expertise and capabilities to support our new developments, as well as maintain specific polymer processing or testing capabilities.  Operate all equipment and conduct experiments safely and with proper precautions involved.

 

Reporting

Provide regular updates of individual projects through monthly reviews/reports, technical reports, and stage-gate reviews. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Polymer Engineering, Polymer/Material Science, or related field with 0-3 years of industrial experience.
  • Experience and/or training in polymer characterization, testing and processing.
  • Hands-on orientation to conduct experiments and maintain equipment.
  • Prior experience with polymer processing equipment is preferred.
  • Proficiency with PC software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
