Based at Arkema's Corporate Offices and R&D Center in King of Prussia, PA, the Sales and Marketing Engineer is responsible for specific sales and marketing efforts in Technical Polymers as directed by Business Manager, Marketing Director, Market Manager and National Sales Manager.  The primary functions of this role include incoming and purchased lead/contact management, inside sales, identification of end users, evaluation on new potential markets and technical representation at targeted trade shows.  The Sales and Marketing Engineer will be expected to have the capability to give product presentations and materials advice to a technical audience after a reasonable training period estimated to be 6 months.


After 12-18 months in the position, the incumbent will be expected to be capable of managing their own territory of accounts for an array of products offered by Arkema Technical Polymers within the United States.  This likely could involve relocation as recommended by the Business Team indicated above.


Specific job activities include (but are not limited to):


Sales (70%)

  • Manage the leads and contact management process and system to ensure effective follow-up on all leads generated through various activities and promotions.
  • Function as inside sales to help customers and users with technical information.
  • Qualification of leads that will facilitate efficient follow-up by the sales and BDI teams.
  • Attendance at relevant trade shows to support the business.
  • Investigate new business opportunities as defined by product-line business teams.
  • Special projects to support core markets.


Marketing (30%)

  • Identify and implement improvements in existing marketing/sales tools and content
  • Digital marketing support
  • Defining market areas where new product development activities will be possible



  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering required; Master’s degree is a plus.  A genuine interest in polymers is a plus.
  • Position is designed to serve as an accelerated development role and support advancement to other positions within Technical Polymers with an initial plan of Field Sales or Field End Use Selling.  Other potential early career paths could be Technical Services, Business Development (BDI), or Supply Chain function.
  • Candidate should be willing to relocate within 1 year of job duties and certainly within 18 months to evolve to a higher level position.
  • Natural ability to innovate.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated social skills that show the ability to organize group functions and entertainment activities/
  • Self-motivated and capable of functioning with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Power Point, Excel and other standard PC applications.
