JOB SUMMARY AND DIMENSIONS

Based in the Western suburbs of Philadelphia, this position reports to the Senior Director, Human Resources and Talent Management. This position manages all aspects of the human resources function for 1-2 business groups. The position requires an experienced HR professional well versed in leading and executing in all aspects of human resources including talent acquisition and development, compensation and benefits, succession planning, workforce planning, talent development and employment law.  Other key dimensions for this role include:

 

  • Keen analytical ability as well as self-awareness and personal savvy.  The ideal candidate will have full capability to develop solid HR strategy, provide sound HR counsel and possess the capacity to provide compelling, fact-based evidence in support of these approaches.  
  • Proactive identification of and ability to read challenging situations, to successfully negotiate to a positive outcome, to mediate between differences of opinion, and to make sound, fair judgments in support of the business and the broader company’s objectives is essential. 
  • To operate and be viewed as a valued, contributing, and collaborative partner and teammate within his/her client groups as well as within the Arkema Inc. HR&C community, including the ability to build strong working relationships with his/her peers in the BUs and within the Corporate HR&C team.

 

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Develops and maintains human resources strategies/procedures/programs linked to the client group’s strategies.
  • Provides trusted counsel and expert HR support to leadership teams of client group through coaching, guidance and education.
  • Develops and maintains successful, productive relationships with client group and within the HR&C team. 
    1. Leverages HR&C relationships appropriately
    2. Effectively champions and gains alignment within client groups on HR programs and processes.
  • Implements effectively the HR strategy, as well as HR initiatives and processes within client groups (PMP, Talent Review, Total Rewards, etc.)
  • Ensures qualitative and cost effective workforce management and talent development
  • Enlists advocacy and support from key Stakeholders by timely and qualitative communications and change management.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvements of HR practices, processes and data management.
  • Talent Management and Development of 1 or more HR direct reports and oversight of their assigned client groups.  Support team success through feedback, coaching, and execution of agreed upon development activities.

     

    CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Regular travel between assigned local businesses between Arkema sites.  Occasional overnight travel regionally as required for meetings or trainings (approximately 25%).
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) is required; a Masters’ Degree is strongly preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of experience working as a generalist in the Human Resources field
    • 5+ years in an HR leadership role reporting to a business leader. 
    • 1+ years of experience managing and developing 1 or more HR professionals.
    • 2+ years’ experience in talent management and/or training related role strongly preferred
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.  Labor union experience preferred, but not essential
  • Experience or exposure working within a matrix environment and dealing with other cultures
  • Large scale ERP experience and talent systems experience, with SAP and SuccessFactors preferred. 
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft office products, with key capabilities in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Track record of success in the implementation of HR solutions.
  • Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong functional knowledge of human resources management (recruitment/employment, employee relations, compensation, performance management, training, employee development).
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with complexity, ambiguity and matrixed relationship/environment; must be able to identify, build/maintain relationship with and manage key stakeholders to enlist support and advocacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a part of a diverse team
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, in both one-to-one and group discussions.  Oscillates easily between high level and details depending on audience.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Experience with key HR processes and systems is necessary; knowledge of SAP and SuccessFactors is preferred.
  • Ability to review and consult with appropriate company representatives on legal and financial documents, references in case law investigation, labor contracts, labor laws and rules and federal laws.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in HR practices, policies, laws and regulations.
