SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION

This position reports to the Americas Finance Manager – Functional Additives BU.  This position has no direct reports, but may serve as peer mentor to others in a similar capacity across the organization.
 

JOB DIMENSIONS

The Americas Senior Financial Analyst routinely interacts with the Americas General Manager and Business Directors and Managers, Supply Chain Manager, Business Development, Supply Chain and Customer Service functions, Operations Accounting, the regional reporting and consolidation group of Arkema Inc., and the Finance Teams in other regions. This role also interacts regularly with the Molecular Sieves and Surfactants US teams. The Americas region consists of four (4) entities and five (5) manufacturing facilities (located in US, Mexico and Brazil), as well as 1 capacity reservation and significant imported products from Molecular Sieves and Surfactants Business. 
 

Overall, this position aligns with the BU and Americas Finance Manager to prepare and deliver detail files, financial reporting, analysis and support of all profit centers (4 in Functional Additives, 2 in Surfactants resale and 1 in Molecular Sieves resale).  This role also coordinates to consolidate the BU’s Americas results and prepare the monthly earnings package, as well as ensures the monthly operating results are communicated in a timely and accurate manner to business management.  Additional responsibilities include the annual budget process, business review/planning, financial modeling, ad-hoc reporting, special process improvement and SAP testing projects, as well as preparation of financial information in support of business requests, gate process/projects and capital projects. 
 

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

Monthly Reporting and Analysis - Actual vs Forecast   

  • Work with Americas Finance Manager to consolidate the BU’s Americas results and prepare the monthly earnings package, as well as collaboration in maintaining systems used to prepare the monthly “Flash” estimate of earnings on the 1st Work Day.
  • Maintain the Analytical Income Statement (AIS) reporting files and update them with forecast and actual information, as well as prior year and budget information to allow for proper analysis of results.
  • Utilize AIS excel reporting file information to compile Income Statements for each business.
  • Compile information from AIS and other Excel files to help prepare PowerPoint Monthly Reporting Packaging for review at the Monthly S&OP Business Review.

Monthly Forecast  and Management Business Review (MBR) Meeting Preparation 

  • Prepare the Arkema Inc. 3 month forecast of operational results, working with business management, sales, marketing, logistics, purchasing, accounting and manufacturing to identify significant trends.
  • Consolidate the regional forecast with additional data from Canada, Mexico and Brazil.
  • Obtain the monthly Sales and Inventory volume forecasts and update the AIS Excel Reporting Files and estimated working capital files.
  • Engage in the annual business review process for FA Americas.  Maintain the regional BU budget models to reflect the business global plan.
  • Collaborate with Americas Finance Manager in preparation of business model presentations for Management Business Review meetings.  

Annual Budget and Planning 

  • Facilitate the annual budget process for Arkema Inc.  Maintain the regional BU budget model.
  • Review budget data and confirm data alignment with SAP/BW and analytics. 
  • Assist with the preparation of the budget review presentation. Work supporting the budget process is tracked, monitored and maintained year round.
  • Work with Americas Finance Manager to prepare detail files specific to volume, sales and margin, and structural costs.
  • Provide detailed analysis that will be reviewed by Americas Finance Manager and provided to the Global Finance Director.
  • Assist with working capital analysis files. 

Financial Analysis

  • Work with management and project teams focusing on economic modeling & cash flow projections that relate to profitability improvement projects, cost savings analysis, portolio Mgt and Gate projects. 
  • Provide financial support to development of ASAP project financials (NPV, IRR)
  • Ad hoc analysis/reporting.

Special projects and other responsibilities

  • SAP/BW testing of reports for process improvements, developing financial processes and reports to support business processes 
  • Work on emerging issues and financial information for crisis response, including ad-hoc reporting, as necessary.
  • Serves as backup to Americas Finance Manager for other budgeting, analysis and closing activities as required.
  • Assists Americas Finance Manager with review and update of transfer pricing as necessary.
     

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
 

This position is located at in the Arkema Inc. King of Prussia, PA headquarters.

  • May require occasional travel to plant sites in Americas or elsewhere for offsite business meetings – travel estimated less than 10%

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance (or other technical degree combined with demonstrated equivalent work experience) required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years’ related finance/accounting experience required, including 2+ years in a prior financial analyst role or similar duties.
    • Prior manufacturing company experience preferred (chemical industry a plus).  
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Financial and Cost Accounting (in a manufacturing environment).
  • Demonstrated financial analysis experience, including the ability to develop & maintain extensive and complex financial spreadsheets.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (Version 2013 or later) skills, including tables
  • Proficient in other Microsoft Office 2013 (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proficiency in SAP and SAP BW in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. 
  • Experience navigating the ERP and reporting system, developing queries to run financial reports and extracting data to analyze for business results and trends.
  • Project systems knowledge.  Project management or other project support experience – able to move through and provide financial support on moderate to complex projects
  • Future interest in mobility for career growth and development is preferred
