The Plant Engineer reports directly to the Site Manager.  Provides guidance to Operations team.  Additionally, provides technical support for onsite activities (blending, loading, projects) and offsite services (OdorFlex).

 

JOB DIMENSIONS

Production: Ensures optimal production and process improvements for Pineville: blending of all Spotleak products, Loading/Unloading of finished products, tank decommissioning process.

 

Projects/CAPEX: Provides technical support for upcoming product initiatives and capital improvements

 

HESQ: Responsible for supporting the plant to operate in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, that complies 100% with all applicable regulatory (i.e. PSM, RMP, OSHA, DOT) specific requirements.  Provides technical oversight for Process Safety Management (PSM) & Risk Management (RMP) program.

 

People: Has direct interaction with plant production and shipping personnel along with business development and R&D personnel.

 

Financial: Support the Reoccurring Production Expenses (RPE) budget goals and measures.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

HSEQ 50%: Ensure that all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated, initiates corrective and preventive actions.  Demonstrate commitment to HESQ matters, through high visibility and actions.  Provides and audits necessary data to support HESQ needs (permit application, episodic releases estimates).  Ensure all onsite activities follow MOC, PHA, and SafeWork Permitting practices.

 

Production 40%: Establish short and long term production plans with Site Manager and Marketing team.

  • Coordinate order fulfillment and blending processes with planned and unanticipated maintenance activities, in collaboration with Fleet Supervisor
  • Monitor daily production, shipping activities, product quality and direct adjustments to production and shipping plans as appropriate
  • Ensure continuous evaluation and implementation of opportunities for improvement (OFI)

 

Projects/CAPEX: Support business development, such as OdorFlex through collaboration with R&D and field testing at customer sites

  • Provides technical support to new product initiatives, such as Paladin Pic-21.

  • Inventory control for product turnarounds or maintenance functions.  Subject to uncertain market demands
  • High level of communication must be maintained from Top business leaders through first line Operators
  • Keep mid-term technical development as a priority, to this effect maintain the technical focus on these subjects
  • Supports the site HESQ policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, injury or quality incidents

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Engineering
  • Exhibits personnel management and organizational skills, ability to envision, acknowledge and shift priorities to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to communicate with hourly workforce, business leaders, customers and company’s technical organization
  • Excellent judgment and problem analysis skills are required as well as tolerance for stress
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot chemical processes
  • Highly motivated team member able to work in or lead a team through a quickly changing pace environment

Plant Engineer is the focal point for determining equipment limitations, inventory space, required maintenance and inspection activities.  He/She must appropriately identify and attain goals to meet compliance in accordance with all Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements.  He/She also to ensure that adequate technical support is available and that improvements are made to existing processes and services.  He/She ensures that such proposed improvements meet all safety, environment and quality requirements.
