The Temporary QC Chemist reports to the QC Manager and supports the production department in the analysis of all materials produced at the West Chester location. This includes raw material testing, returned goods, resale and toll production as well as all pilot plant production. Sartomer is a growing business unit within Arkema.  We continue to develop and produce exciting new technologies.  Come meet the team!

Activities may include:

  1. Perform all analytical testing relating to incoming raw materials.
  2. Perform all analytical testing relating to West Chester in-process testing.
  3. Perform all analytical testing relating to finished goods testing.
  4. Perform all analytical testing related to resale and toll production that is shipped from the West Chester facility.
  5. Perform all analytical testing related to pilot plant production.
  6. Perform all analytical testing related to reapprovals, and returned goods.
  7. Perform all miscellaneous analytical testing as directed by West Chesters QC Manager, Methods Development Chemist, and Sartomer US Quality Manager.
  8. Perform all necessary test method calibrations as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.
  9. Perform all necessary instrument maintenance as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.
  10. Perform all necessary instrument troubleshooting as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.
  11. Maintain good laboratory practices in the areas of safety and cleanliness while performing the assigned analytical duties
  12. Communicate test results effectively to Production and Management.

This position requires work in a manufacturing environment with chemical, physical, ergonomic, and electrical hazards. 

Work is primarily performed in the laboratory complex; however, worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions, Works with or around hazardous substances.Work may require use of protective clothing and equipment, which may include, but not be limited to, eye protection, head protection, respiratory protection, and foot protection. 

Scheduled hours may vary in shifts and length (day or night shifts up to 12 hr). 


The successful candidate will have:

  1. Minimum of a 4-year degree in Chemistry or Biology with a minimum of 1 years of work experience with analytical techniques and instrumentation, such as, but not limited to, NIR, HPLC, GC, FTIR, Karl-Fischer, autotrators and wet chemistry techniques. Instrument troubleshooting, problem solving and LIMS experience is a plus.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Working knowledge of text processing, spreadsheets, database usage, and equation-solving software.
  4. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications.
  5. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
  6. Knowledge of ISO9001:2008 quality systems.
  7. Knowledge of Lab Management Systems (LIMS).
  8. Knowledge of Total Quality Management.
